Anoka Municipal Utilities (AMU) is a member of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA). The MMPA is an agency that provides reliable, competitively-priced power, and is owned by member cities and governed by a Board of Directors with representatives from each community.
According to the MMPA, "Hometown BioEnergy (HTBE) is an important component of MMPA’s commitment towards local, sustainable energy production. The 8 MW biomass facility, located in the MMPA member community of Le Sueur, provides dispatchable, on-peak renewable energy to the Agency." Since AMU has power purchased through the MMPA, we are taking advantage of this clean energy source, with part of the energy distributed to our customers being HTBE. To help us purchase more clean energy from clean sources, such as biomass, join in our Clean Energy Program today!
