Free Tax Assistance
Preparation of federal and state returns as well as rent credits and property tax rebates. Anoka Senior Center is one of many host sites for free tax assistance throughout Anoka County. This service is sponsored by AARP Tax Aide Foundation, the IRS and Minnesota Department of Revenue.
Tax assistance is available at the Anoka Senior Center during the tax season - typically during February, March and April on Mondays 8:30 am to 11:30 am. This service is first come first served.
Fitness/Exercise Class
Enjoy a nice mix of balance, cardio, strength and flexibility taught by a certified personal trainer. This class is brought to you by "Now Get Going Fitness". Register on site with the instructor. Fee is typically covered by your health insurance.
The class meets every Tuesday and Friday at the Senior Center. Class begins at 11 am and ends at Noon.
Anoka County Community Action Program (ACCAP) Chores & More
Over 60 or an adult with a disability? The Anoka County Community Action Program is your one stop for:
- Minor Home Repairs
- Housekeeping
- Seasonal Chores
- Snow removal
- Lawn mowing
- Spring and fall clean-up
Call Ann at 763-767-6521, April 1 to get on the spring clean up list and the summer mowing list.
Resource Guide - Anoka County Community Action Program (accap.org)
The Resource Guide includes a designated section on services within the county that are available specifically for Seniors. Criteria for selecting the agencies listed in the directory was based on recommendations from an advisory committee. Information regarding services was provided by the agencies themselves. Inclusion of the agencies and services listed in the Resource Guide is not a recommendation. No verification or evaluation of the services offered by the listed agencies was conducted by ACCAP.
Program Organization
Funding is provided by the Older American Act Grant through the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Metrol Area Agency on Aging. Chores and More is a program of the Anoka County Community Action Program with funding from the Cities of Anoka and Coon Rapids. ACCAP does not discriminate based upon a persons race, color, national origin, sexual preference or religious affiliation.
Foot Care
Receive a nail trim and information for general foot health and care. This service is provided by Holistic Foot & Nail Care. Cost is $35. Please bring your own bath towel sized towel for use during your appointment.
Schedule an Appointment
Call the senior center at 763-576-4661 to schedule your appointment. The licensed practical nurse is here typically the first Saturday of the month. Appointments are scheduled every minutes through out the day with a brief break for lunch.
Driver Improvement Course
If you are 55 or older, this course will save you 10% on your auto insurance for three years! No written or behind the wheel tests. We offer the 4-hour refresher class. This program is offered in partnership with the St. Cloud Driver Improvement Program.
