Anoka Seeks Election Judges
While these are unprecedented times for our state and country, open and fair elections represent the core of our democracy. Election planning must be carried out to support the constitutional right to vote, even in the face of this pandemic. The City Clerk’s Office is planning for the August Primary and November General Election. We greatly appreciate all veteran and new Election Judges, and we hope you will consider serving this year.
We understand that you may be concerned about having close contact with large numbers of people, as is typical for most polling locations on Election Day. We are closely following county and state conversations around potential changes to the voting process to ensure the health and safety of voters and poll workers. The Secretary of State (SOS) has proposed alterations to 2020 elections operations, which may reduce the amount of people voting in person on Election Day.
Please consider serving as an Election Judge this year. The City will do everything possible to help ensure a safe and healthy experience for all. We are committed to keeping you informed with any changes to the voting process and to providing any training necessary to adjust to new practices or procedures.
If you would like to work in the upcoming elections as an Election Judge on (August 11 and November 3), please contact the City Clerk’s Office to obtain an application as soon as possible. Call 763-576-2740 or email rdodge@ci.anoka.mn.us. We look forward to hearing from you – and stay safe!
